I kinda stopped blogging and then received an email saying I had a comment on my blog. My big, Lisa @ Sorority Life to Army Wife, commented on my post that she had nominated me for a Liebster Award. At first I had a feeling that I was a bad blogger because I have only just started and was inspired starting this blog because of her. Thank you Lisa, I am very grateful for this honor.
I went to her blog, linked above, to find out all about it.
So this is what I have to do:
- List 11 unique things about myself
- Answer 10 questions my nominator asked me
- Nominate bloggers and tell them on their page!
I got this!
1. I have been to Antarctica!
2. I have always appreciated birds since I was a little kid. I blame my mother for playing "Rockin' Robin" too much and an instrumental piece that had birds songs entwined with it.
3. I still own the Disney collector cups that McDonald's used to sell. They are currently displayed in my kitchen.
4. I know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle. My parents wouldn't purchase me a car unless I learned how to drive stick.
5. I have been to all states on the East coast of the United States.
6. I taught my younger brother how to read by using the Hooked on Phonics system.
7. I swam under a waterfall. This was in Kauai while Mike and I were on our honeymoon.
8. I was born on a Friday the 13th. I don't think I am bad luck at all.
9. I am always losing things around the house, in my car or in my purse.
10. In 9th grade my career goal was to become a heart surgeon, then it became a family physician to a surgical technologist, to a physician assistant, to working in the field of microbiology. I now currently work in a Vaccine Lab and my career goal is to work for the government in the field of biodefense. : )
11. When I was younger I used to wake up at 4 am in the morning to turn on infomercials in order to ask my mom for Christmas gifts. I have one memory of calling my GrandB in Arizona asking if she could buy me paint thinner. LOL
Here are the questions I have to answer:
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I found my sorority big, Lisa who nominated me, blog site through pinterest. I read the whole blog in one day and decided that I wanted to share my experiences to people.
2. What is your favorite dish at your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is a hard one because personally I like home cooked meals over going to a restaurant. But the only restaurant Mike and I go to often is Iciban in Newtown, Williamsburg that serves sushi ( a weakness of mine). My favorite rolls are the spicy tuna roll and the Ichiban roll. Yummy!
3. Do you prefer shopping in brick-and-mortar stores or online?
I kinda do a bit of both. I do "pre-shopping" as I call it online. This way I can see ideas of what I like in the store. I will then go to the store and shop around for those items, if they are there then I purchase them. However if they are not there then if I really want it bad enough I will purchase it online. My only exceptions are Amazon and Pottery Barn. These two stores I always shop online. I am addicted to Pottery Barn because I have the urge to decorate my home now that I am married, in other terms I am excited to "nest" my home. Lol. So I'm wishing my family will get me some pottery barn gift cards for Christmas.
4. Was your favorite college (or high school) class taught by your favorite instructor? What were they? My favorite college class was not taught by my favorite instructor. I never really had a favorite instructor in my life. I liked teachers and did not like others but no instructor really stuck out to me. The subjects they were teaching me really stood out. My favorite class in college was Ornithology (study of birds). Although, I had a laboratory class associated that I had to attend at 7:00 am on Tuesday mornings in the snow (lovely Blacksburg), the class was thoroughly enjoyable and I learned the most from this class. I can identify many species of birds in this class.
5. Where did you last vacation?
My last vacation would be my honeymoon to Kauai. Mike and I wanted to have an exotic vacation to have as our honeymoon. Even though we are still paying for it now, it was totally worth it to see the sights. I want to go back to Hawaii but to another island.
6. Tell me your family's most unique Thanksgiving tradition.
We don't really have a unique tradition. We have the simple eating dinner and watching football kinda family. But something we have been doing now recently is going to a restaurant for Thanksgiving instead of cooking it ourselves. My mom decided to do this because her birthday is November 27 and sometimes it falls on her birthday and she doesn't want the hassle of cooking and cleaning up the Thanksgiving feast. My family is moving to Arizona next year so I am sure that next Thanksgiving I will be starting to prepare Mike and I's first family feast.
7. If you could own any exotic animal as a pet, what would you choose?Easy! A penguin of course. If the great country of USA would be colder than I would love to have a pet penguin around but if you have ever seen the movie Mr. Poppers Penguins (love this movie) then you understand that it is hard to have penguins in your house.
8. How did you come up with your blog name?
My blog name is A Perfect Pebble. I wrote a whole post on it and you can find it here. To sum it, I love penguins and they will find a perfect pebble for their mate. As a recent newlywed I am sharing our newlywed life through my blog.
9. Who created the recipe you cook the most?
I am the one who created the recipe I like to cook the most. It is a quick recipe that I use if we are running low on groceries or just because I am hungry and don't want to spend 30 mins to hours cooking dinner. I call it 5 minute chicken recipe. All it is cooked egg noodles, cut up chicken breast cooked, Italian seasoning, parsley, and chives, with oil and vinegar and some cheese. It is really good and I love it because its filling but not to heavy for pasta. Lately, I have been finding recipes to try out and see which one is the best. I will have to update recipes on my blog.
10. You can ask any three historical figures (including those who are still alive) to dinner. Whom do you invite?
This is a hard question. Who would I invite?
1. Sheldon Cooper - I know he is a character in the Big Bang Theory, love this show, but he would valuable in any debate and enlighten the mood during the dinner. He also isn't really a historical figure but I feel that if he were a real character in life that he would be!
2. Margaret Pittman - she was famous in the microbiology field. She was the one who identified the cause of Whooping cough which lead to the development of the vaccine (I'm vaccinated with it). She was also the first woman to direct a laboratory at the National Health Institute (NIH) and worked with the World Health Organization as a cholera consultant. She also helped in the standardizing of vaccines!
An amazing woman in the health science world and I would love to pick her brain of her findings.
3. George Washington - this is such an obvious choice. He was the first great leader of our country back with politics were simple. I would love to have him not only to balance out Margaret and Sheldon bickering about the basis of science and which field is more important. I would want him to stick around to set our country straight again.
This would be quite and interesting dinner party.
Since I am relatively new the blogging world I have not followed many bloggers. I have no one to nominate.
