Lola Sue is the name of Mike and I's first pet together. She is a rex rabbit that we got at the Isle of Wight county fair in 2009.
I was currently at Virginia Tech but decided to come home for the weekend to spend time with Mike in our newly developed long distance relationship. He wanted to take me to fair and I have never really been to the fair before and it was my first time with a date. At the fair we rode the ferris wheel, the catapolt and a few other rides. We also went to go ride an elephant named Dumbo! I was excited because my first disney movie of all time was Dumbo, ironically enough. At the fair they had animal tents, where goats, geese, roosters, ducks, rabbits and other animals came to be judged. Some of the animals they were selling for a profit. I was walking around the aisles of the rabbits and was falling in love with them. Months previously, I had two pet rats whom died from cancer. I was trying really hard to convince Mike to get a rabbit. Well, if you know me, I did get a rabbit that day and she only costed $15. The farmer actually pulled her out of the cage, told us she was female and put her a box to send us on our merry way.
We picked out her name while walking back to the car. Early on in the summer, we rescued a box turtle from the road and named her Lola. So, we already like the name. Now that is how we have Lola Sue. : )
Lola's birthday, we celebrate is the day we bought her from the fair. That date is September 18. She is now three years old or thirty-three years old in rabbit age. She is very curious and has scared us a couple of times. I know she is just a rabbit but I care for her as my own child/puppy and will take her to the emergency vet if she is not doing good. We have been 2 already, one for a fur blockage during shedding season and the other was for an eye infection. Here are some really cute pictures of our rabbit.
